However, because the cart runs off a battery alone, there’s no need for you to ever fill your cart up with gas. The standard electric golf cart will have four, six, or eight batteries in total. The voltage will be either 36 volts or 48 volts. These batteries will be contained in a single system, that looks a bit like a large block/box. If you’re working with a golf cart that has 36 volts, this means that it will contain six batteries in total, with each battery containing six volts of power. If your golf cart has 48 volts in total, then you’ll still have six batteries in total. However, each of those batteries will have eight volts of power. Or, you may also have a 48-volt system that uses 12V batteries. This means that you’ll have four total batteries, but that each of those batteries will have twelve total volts of power. In the end, it’s just basic multiplication - so don’t be intimidated. Finding the Voltage on Your Electric Golf Cart Now, let’s talk about how you can figure out how much voltage your current golf cart battery has. You might have had to find your car battery voltage on your vehicle at some point, perhaps before you took it into a mechanic in the past.įinding the voltage number on your golf cart is somewhat similar.įirst of all, lift up the seat of your golf cart where the compartment for the batteries is contained. You should be able to clearly see the number of holes that your battery contains.
In most cases, the battery will have either three, four, or six holes. Once you know the number of holes your golf cart battery has, multiply the number of holes by two. This will give you the total number of voltage in each battery. Once you’ve found out the volt of a single battery, you can multiply that by the total number of batteries to see if you’re working with a 48 of 36-volt system in total.īut at the end of the day, it’s only really two simple equations. Let’s say that you find four holes in total. To find out the voltage, remember that 4 holes x 2 volts will give you an 8-volt battery. Then, you multiply that 8-volt battery x your total number of batteries. If you have 6 batteries in total, that means you have a 48-volt system in total.
